Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Brittney Cordes, LCSW. I’m a licensed clinical social worker with 9 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families in a variety of clinical settings. My experience includes outpatient mental health treatment, care management, and clinical program leadership, which has given me a broad understanding of the many factors that can impact a person’s emotional well-being.

I work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, stress, trauma, grief, ADHD, panic, and life transitions, as well as maternal mental health concerns. I especially enjoy helping clients who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or caught in patterns that they know they want to change but aren't quite sure how to break.

I believe therapy should feel like a safe space where you can be honest, understood, and supported without feeling judged. At the same time, I’m not afraid to gently challenge you when it can help you move forward. My goal is to help you better understand yourself, build confidence, develop practical coping skills, and create meaningful changes in your life.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, supportive, and individualized. I don’t believe there is a “one-size-fits-all” approach to mental health, so I tailor treatment to your specific needs, goals, personality, and experiences.

I draw from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Strength-Based Therapy, Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Psychodynamic approaches.

I believe that therapy should be more than simply talking about what is wrong. Together, we will work to understand where your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors come from while also developing practical tools to help you navigate what you are experiencing in the present. I want you to leave sessions feeling heard and understood, but also with greater insight, direction, and strategies you can actually use outside of therapy.

I will meet you where you are, while also helping you identify the patterns that may be keeping you stuck. My style is warm, energetic, empowering, and honest, and I strive to create a therapeutic relationship where you feel comfortable being yourself.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and determine whether we are a good fit. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, what you’ve been experiencing, what you would like to be different, and what you hope to get out of treatment.

I’ll also ask questions about your background, relationships, current stressors, and mental health history so I can better understand the full picture. You do not need to have everything figured out before starting therapy, and you don’t need to know exactly what you want to talk about.

Most importantly, I want you to feel comfortable and supported. Therapy is a process, and we will work together to establish goals and a treatment approach that feels realistic and meaningful to you. You can come as you are—we’ll take it from there.
