Great to meet you!

New year! New you! New Therapy! I am looking to provide in-person therapy services in Utah to people of any age, but I specialize in ages 4 to 24. I also offer virtual appointments for ages 14+ in the states of Utah and Missouri. I have experience working as a school-based therapist, in an at-risk youth center, in the treatment of addiction, with children and adults with disabilities, with veterans and active military personnel, including a year in Iraq doing therapy for deployed soldiers. I have experience working with Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD/ADD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Borderline Personality Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), eating disorders, trauma, as well as Depression and Anxiety ranging from mild to severe. I am a 100% ally for the LGBTQIA+ community and welcome everybody. If you would like to talk with me, please call 801-800-0851

My approach to therapy

I don’t hyper-focus on one style of therapy. When in sessions, I focus on what that person needs in the moment as well as the big picture. In one session, the client may need Narrative therapy to help process trauma that has happened in the past. In the next session, that same client may need Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy to help understand how the trauma has rewired the brain, and why they react to their friends and loved ones in certain ways.

In play therapy, the child sets the tone and the activity for the sessions. The child is going to tell me about their needs through their play. I meet the child’s needs by allowing them to direct the session with gentle guidance as needed.

What you can expect from me

Therapy is not a temporary Band-Aid. It is a process of growth that adds self-awareness and coping skills to your everyday life. In any form of therapy, there is a chance that things may get a little worse before they get a LOT better. This is important to understand because symptoms MAY worsen, or children MAY act out more. The first instinct is to quit therapy but the way to benefit the most from therapy is to stick with it especially when it is hard.

In play therapy, often the child will not even comprehend that therapy is taking place. They just see a place with a lot of toys where they can play and be themselves. In play therapy, the growth and change occur at a more subconscious level, and if you were to ask them what they did during their session, they would just tell you that they played.
