Great to meet you!

Clients should know that I bring decades of nursing experience and a calm, compassionate presence into every visit. I take time to listen closely, understand your story, and partner with you to create a plan that feels practical and respectful of your values. My approach is person-centered and holistic, combining evidence-based psychiatric care with attention to lifestyle, stress, sleep, relationships, and medical factors that can affect mental health.

You can expect a thorough evaluation, clear explanations, and shared decision-making. If medication is part of your treatment, I focus on safety, careful dosing, and regular follow-up to make sure it’s working well and to minimize side effects. I also incorporate therapeutic strategies, education, and skill-building so you have tools you can use between appointments. Above all, my goal is to help you feel supported, empowered, and confident as we work toward stability, resilience, and recovery—at your pace.

My approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative, evidence-based, and person-centered. I start by listening carefully to understand your symptoms, goals, strengths, and what’s happening in your life—not just a checklist of diagnoses. We look at the whole picture, including sleep, stress, relationships, trauma history, medical conditions, and lifestyle factors that may be affecting your mental health.

From there, we create an individualized plan together. That may include education, practical coping strategies, therapy-based skills (such as CBT/DBT-informed tools), and—when appropriate—medication management. If we use medication, I prioritize safety, conservative dosing, monitoring side effects, and ongoing follow-up to make adjustments based on how you’re doing.

I also coordinate care when needed—working with therapists, primary care, specialists, and support systems—so your treatment is consistent and well-rounded. My goal is to provide a supportive space where you feel heard and empowered, while also delivering structured, measurable care that helps you improve your functioning, resilience, and quality of life.

What you can expect from me

In your first session, you can expect a welcoming, judgment-free space and a thorough, structured evaluation. We’ll spend time getting to know what brings you in, what you’ve been experiencing, and what you’d like to change.

Typically, we will review:

  • Your main concerns and symptoms (when they started, what makes them better/worse, how they affect daily life)
  • Mental health history (past diagnoses, therapy, medications, hospitalizations, trauma/stressors)
  • Medical history and current medications/supplements
  • Sleep, appetite, energy, concentration, substance use, and lifestyle factors
  • Family history and supports
  • Safety (screening for suicidal thoughts, self-harm, or other urgent concerns)

By the end of the visit, you can expect:

  • A clear summary of what I’m hearing and possible diagnoses or contributing factors
  • An initial treatment plan tailored to your goals (therapy recommendations, skills/strategies, and/or medication options if appropriate)
  • Time for your questions, concerns, and preferences—so decisions are shared, not rushed
  • A plan for follow-up and next steps, including any labs, rating scales, or coordination with your therapist/primary care if needed

My goal is for you to leave the first appointment feeling heard, understood, and more hopeful—with a plan that is realistic and supportive.
