Great to meet you!

I'm Dr. Cagil, a licensed psychologist in Arizona specializing in anxiety, OCD, and related disorders. I hold a PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Florida and completed my postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Florida College of Medicine, where I focused on the treatment of OCD and anxiety. Across my doctoral and postdoctoral training, I've gained extensive experience delivering evidence-based treatments in both intensive outpatient (IOP) and outpatient settings.

OCD shows up in many different forms. I work with the full range of presentations, including perfectionism, intrusive harm and taboo thoughts, contamination fears, scrupulosity, and relationship OCD with both adolescents and adults. In addition to anxiety and OCD, I work with body-focused repetitive behaviors (skin picking, hair pulling), body dysmorphic disorder, phobias, hoarding disorder, ADHD, depression, and life transitions, both as primary concerns and alongside OCD.

I am bilingual in Turkish and English and bring a bicultural perspective to my practice.

My practice is telehealth-based and currently serves clients in Arizona. I look forward to seeing if we are a good fit.

My approach to therapy

My approach is warm, compassionate, and grounded in evidence-based practices. I aim to create a nonjudgmental space where clients feel safe to do difficult work. I draw on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), tailoring the approach to what each client needs. For OCD, ERP is the most effective treatment with the strongest research support, and it's a core part of my work.

I work collaboratively with clients to understand what is getting in the way for them and to identify strategies that support meaningful change. My sessions are structured and goal-directed, but we set the direction together.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is an opportunity to get to know each other. I will ask about what brings you to therapy, your history, and what you are hoping to work toward. I will also share how I approach treatment and what our sessions might look like based on what you tell me.

By the end of our first meeting, you will have a clear sense of my approach and whether it feels like the right fit for you.
