Great to meet you!

Calleaghn rhymes with "salon". It's an old Irish name. I’m nonbinary, White Scots Irish, & not heteronormative. I’m 62, tattooed, & pierced with hair style/color that's as changeable as the weather. I grew up in a large, multicultural family, amidst poverty, trauma, resourcefulness & humor. Our home “religion” was feminism, nature based, & messy. I love video games, sci-fi, making music & art, & I read fiction everyday as part of my personal upkeep. I know everything is in relationship to everything else & I endeavor to be a good relative.

My background is in the arts & sciences, education & service work (including years of food service, cleaning & manual labor). I earned a psychology doctorate from Antioch University Seattle in 2023, a very cool school that is founded on a mission of social justice. My clinical training as a therapist began in 2016, involved multiple settings with a variety of client groups of all ages and cultures, including neurodivergent, alternative lifestyle, queer, & Twice Exceptional (2e) folks. My services are humanistic, trauma informed and client centered.

My approach to therapy

How often do we get to sit with someone who cares unconditionally, with no agenda but our wellbeing (as we define it)? In this space, there's nothing you need to accomplish, fix, or prove. Here, transformation & recovery happen in ways authentic to you, at your pace. I prioritize your lived experience over the status quo, blending Western models with diverse frameworks for a holistic approach. We'll consider the ways that cultural, historical & generational identities intersect, acknowledging that those contexts are important elements of experience & healing. Together we’ll collaborate to create an approach that’s unique to you.

There are many ways of viewing mental health & wellness, including the inner knowing that is uniquely yours. I prioritize lived experience over the status quo in Western mental health. I bring a holistic and flexible approach to therapy that Western based systems alone can't offer, bringing the best of both to the table. I also address the ways cultural, historical, and generational identities intersect, acknowledging that the systems we inhabit (past & present) are key elements in our experience & healing.

What you can expect from me

At our first meeting we’ll explore what brings you to therapy, & what your preferences & needs in a therapy setting are (something we can explore if you’re unsure). We'll also just get to know each other & you'll have the opportunity to ask about me, my experience & training.

Therapy works best when the relationship feels trustworthy & aligned. Sometimes we know right away whether a therapeutic relationship fits, & sometimes it takes a few sessions. We’ll check in about as needed.
