Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Candace Blackwood, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Alabama who works with overwhelmed parents, busy professionals, and individuals navigating anxiety, stress, and life transitions. As a wife, mom, and therapist with experience in school counseling, community mental health, crisis work, and military-connected families, I understand how easy it is to lose yourself while trying to take care of everyone else. I provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients can slow down, process what they’re carrying, and begin creating healthier, more balanced lives.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and practical. I believe therapy should feel like a safe place to be honest about what’s hard while also gaining tools that help in everyday life. I work with clients experiencing anxiety, burnout, parenting stress, relationship challenges, and major life transitions, helping them better understand themselves, manage emotions, and develop healthier coping strategies.

I tailor therapy to each client’s needs, drawing from evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, and strengths-based approaches. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or simply stuck, we’ll work together to help you feel more grounded, confident, and connected.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other in a relaxed, supportive environment. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, the challenges you’re currently facing, and what you hope to gain from the process. There’s no pressure to have everything figured out or know exactly where to start.

My goal is to help you feel heard, comfortable, and supported from the very beginning. Together, we’ll begin identifying goals and creating a path forward that feels realistic and meaningful for you.
