Great to meet you!

I’m Candace Newton, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 12 years of experience supporting adults and families through trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, and patterns that can leave us feeling stuck. Throughout my career, I’ve worked in a variety of clinical and leadership roles, including as a Clinical Case Manager, Primary Therapist, and Clinical Director. These experiences have shaped my ability to look beyond what is happening on the surface and understand the bigger picture of what may be contributing to someone’s struggles.

I believe you already have strengths and an ability to grow, even when it may be difficult to recognize them in the moment. My role is to help you better understand yourself, work through what is getting in the way, and support you as you create meaningful and lasting change.

My approach to therapy

My approach is warm, collaborative, direct, and holistic. I want therapy to be a space where you feel supported while also feeling comfortable enough to explore patterns, beliefs, relationships, and experiences that may be keeping you from moving forward.

I specialize in trauma, inner child work, attachment, and family therapy and incorporate evidence-based approaches such as EMDR, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Rather than focusing only on reducing symptoms, we may explore where those symptoms come from, what continues to reinforce them, and how your past experiences, relationships, and current environment influence how you feel today.

Together, we’ll work toward increasing insight, processing experiences that continue to carry emotional weight, challenging patterns that are no longer serving you, and developing healthier ways of relating to yourself and others.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin understanding what has brought you to therapy. We’ll talk about what you’re currently experiencing, important parts of your history, the relationships and experiences that have shaped you, and what you hope will be different as a result of therapy.

You don’t need to arrive knowing exactly what you want to work on or how to explain everything perfectly. We’ll begin identifying your priorities together and discuss what approaches may be the best fit for you. My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, supported, and with a clearer sense of how we can move forward together.
