Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Candice Herrera, Licensed ProfessionalCounselor and owner of Artesian Counseling Group, PLLC. I earned my Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling from Wayland Baptist University and have been practicing therapy for the past four years.

I specialize in working with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, and emotional overwhelm. Much of my work centers around helping clients recognize and heal from generational trauma—the patterns, beliefs, and survival strategies that are often passed down through families without anyone intending to.

As a therapist, I understand that many people, especially millennials and people of color, have spentyears carrying responsibilities, expectations, or emotional burdens that were never truly theirs to hold. You may be the one who always has it together, the cycle breaker in your family, or the person everyonedepends on while quietly struggling yourself. Therapy offers a space where you don't have to carry thatweight alone.

I strive to create a space where you feel seen, respected, and accepted exactly as you are. My goal is to help you reconnect with yourself, heal from what's been weighing you down, and build a life that reflects who you are, not just who you've had to be.

My approach to therapy

I believe therapy should feel like a conversation, not an interrogation. My style is warm, collaborative, and client-led. Together, we'll explore the experiences thathave shaped you, identify patterns that no longer serve you, and develop practical tools that supportlasting change.

I primarily use Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Internal Family Systems, blending evidence-based approaches with authenticity and compassion. I don't believe healing comes from simply managing symptoms-it comes from understanding the stories you've carried, honoring the parts of yourself that helped you survive, and creating new ways of responding to life's challenges.

Whether you're navigating anxiety, processing trauma, struggling in relationships, or learning to set boundaries without guilt, I'll meet you where you are and walk alongside you throughout the process.

What you can expect from me

The first session is about getting to know each other and building a foundation of trust. We'll discuss what's bringing you to therapy, the challenges you're currently facing, and the goals you hope to achieve. More importantly, you'll have the opportunity to ask questions and decide whether I feel like the right therapist for you.

My clients often tell me they appreciate how genuine, relatable, and easy I am to talk to. I believe meaningfulhealing begins when you feel safe enough to be honest—without fear of judgment or pressure to haveeverything figured out.

Together, we'll create an intentional treatment plan that reflects your goals, values, and strengths. My hope is that, over time, you'll gain the confidence, self-awareness, and practical skills to navigate life'schallenges independently.

Therapy isn't about becoming perfect or never experiencing stress again. It's about breaking cycles that no longer serve you, learning healthier ways to respond to life's difficulties, and creating the freedom to live more authentically. You deserve more than survival—you deserve healing, peace, and the opportunity to build the life you want.
