Hi, I'm Candice Jeffers, your Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I bring specialized expertise in OCD and PTSD/trauma treatment, along with comprehensive care for depression, anxiety, panic disorders, mood disorders, and bipolar conditions. What distinguishes my practice is my deep commitment to evidence-based treatments specifically designed for these conditions, combined with a collaborative approach that puts you at the center of your recovery journey.

I chose to specialize in OCD and trauma because I understand how isolating and overwhelming these conditions can feel. Many people struggle for years before finding effective treatment, often feeling misunderstood or blamed for symptoms they can't control. My role is to provide accurate information about your condition, evidence-based treatment options, and unwavering support as you work toward recovery.

My treatment approach integrates the latest research with personalized care that honors your unique experiences and goals. I believe understanding your condition is empowering, so I take time to educate you about what's happening in your brain and why certain symptoms occur. Knowledge is a powerful tool in your healing process.

What you can expect is a thorough assessment, collaborative treatment planning, and ongoing support as we navigate your mental health journey. I'm here to walk alongside you, celebrating progress and providing guidance through challenges. Whether this is your first time seeking treatment or you're looking for a new approach.

My approach to therapy

At the heart of my practice lies a firm conviction: lasting healing grows from relationships built on compassion and genuine connection. The care I provide rests on warmth, empathy, and sincere respect for who you truly are. You are a whole, capable person facing real challenges, carrying an innate wisdom and resilience we will continue building upon together.

My work is shaped by psychiatric principles recognizing how early, formative experiences shape your present struggles. I cultivate a setting free of judgment and stigma, offering authentic understanding and steady support instead. Your voice remains at the center of all we do, guiding each decision we reach together as collaborative partners.

Treatment begins where you are and unfolds at whatever pace feels right for you. Some respond best to medication, others to alternative approaches, and many flourish through thoughtfully integrated combinations of both. I guide you through every option with clear, honest dialogue, so you can choose the path that fits your own values and aspirations.

You are never defined by a diagnosis or a list of symptoms. You are a human being deserving of dignity, comfort, and exceptional care. I am equally devoted to honoring the cultural identities, personal histories, and life frameworks you carry, ensuring the support you receive is inclusive, affirming, and fully attuned to your whole self.

Healing does not always follow a straight line, and I stand beside you at every step of the way. Each visit offers a safe, supportive space where your story holds real weight, your progress is warmly celebrated, and your full humanity is honored. Together we will thoughtfully explore how physical health, meaningful relationships, and life circumstances all deeply shape your overall well-being.

What you can expect from me

Your first visit offers a safe, welcoming space where you can speak openly about everything you have been carrying. I know that reaching out for help takes real courage, and I deeply respect that decision. Our conversation will center on getting to know you as a whole person, not just the symptoms that brought you in. We will start wherever feels most natural, whether that means facing what is troubling you now or exploring your wider life story, and I will gently guide our dialogue while always following your own lead.

We will look closely at what you are going through at present: your emotional state, stress levels, quality of sleep, energy, motivation, focus, appetite, and any thoughts or behaviors that have been weighing on you. We will also consider when these difficulties first surfaced and what circumstances may have played a part in their beginning.

Your personal history carries real meaning. Early life experiences, family dynamics, relationships, loss, trauma, and turning-point events all leave lasting marks on emotional well-being. I will ask about your family psychiatric background and relevant hereditary factors, along with your physical health, including medical conditions, past surgeries, current medications, and patterns of substance use.

Your earlier mental health treatment history matters just as much. Which approaches or medications have you tried, and how did they affect you? That understanding helps me pinpoint the strategies most likely to support meaningful, lasting progress. Whether this is your very first mental health appointment or you have worked with many providers before, you will always be met with patience and a truly open mind.

If medication seems potentially helpful, we will carefully weigh all your options together as genuine partners. You will never leave an appointment without a clear sense of the next steps and the quiet confidence that you have a devoted advocate firmly in your corner.
