Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Carina Nation, a licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CMHC) in Utah. I work with adults and couples navigating anxiety, trauma, grief, addiction recovery, relationship challenges, and life transitions. I earned my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to you. I draw on training in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Polyvagal Theory, and trauma-informed care to help you understand your experiences, build practical coping skills, and feel more connected to yourself. As a Gottman Level 1 trained clinician, I also help couples strengthen communication, navigate conflict, and rebuild emotional connection.

You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard and respected, where we can explore what matters to you and work toward meaningful, lasting change. For clients who wish to include faith in counseling, I welcome that as part of our work together.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that you are the expert on your own life. I take time to understand your experiences, strengths, and goals so we can create a plan that feels meaningful to you. Together, we explore patterns that may be keeping you stuck while building practical tools to help you navigate everyday challenges.

I integrate trauma-informed care, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Polyvagal-informed strategies to support emotional regulation, process difficult experiences, and develop greater self-compassion. My work with adults focuses on anxiety, trauma, grief, addiction recovery, and life transitions.

With couples, I draw on my Gottman Level 1 training to help partners improve communication, manage conflict, and strengthen trust and emotional connection. I balance compassionate support with gentle, honest feedback, working at a pace that respects your readiness while helping you move toward your goals.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, you can expect a warm, welcoming space where you can share at your own pace. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, what you’re experiencing, and what you hope will change. I’ll ask about your background, relationships, strengths, and current challenges to better understand you as a whole person.

Together, we’ll begin identifying goals that matter to you, whether that means managing anxiety, processing difficult experiences, navigating a transition, or improving your relationship. For couples, I’ll make space for both partners to share their perspectives and hopes for our work.

You don’t need to know exactly what to say or share everything right away. There will be time to ask questions and explore whether my approach feels like a good fit. My hope is that you leave feeling heard, with a clearer understanding of how we can work together and an initial direction for moving forward.
