Great to meet you!

I am a licensed, board certified dance/movement therapist with more than twenty years' experience in the field of mental health. I have worked with adults in a variety of social services settings, and also in private practice. I am currently on faculty in the Creative Arts Therapy Department of the Pratt Institute.

My approach to therapy

As a dance/movement psychotherapist, I use talking, body awareness and movement to help you manifest change. Talking is an important part of the process, but often it is not enough. Have you found that thinking and talking about your problems in therapy is not making enough difference? I can help you get out of your head and into your body so that you can experience a different level of self awareness. I believe that change happens through a combination of gaining insight and taking action.

What you can expect from me

I prioritize a safe and warm listening relationship. I will help you understand your situation more clearly. To start the process of change, I will work with you to identify goals, harness the skills you need, and create your action plan. When words are not enough, I will help you tune into your body and be receptive to your sensations. You will learn how to harness mindful movement that deepens your awareness of your emotions. Over time, you will become more aware of your body mind connection.
