Great to meet you!

I’m Carlos Ruiz, a bilingual LCPC, psychotherapist, and Spiritual Director with graduate training in counseling and divinity. In my practice, I foster a safe, collaborative space where we can work together to help you move away from self-judgment and toward greater self-acceptance, curiosity, and meaningful connection. I work with individuals and couples navigating family issues, grief and loss, trauma, LGBTQ+ concerns, relationship and sexuality issues, transition struggles, anger management, and cross-cultural concerns. My hope is to help you discover the unreleased energy within you that can support healing, healthier living, and deeper connection with yourself and others.

My approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative, relational, spiritually informed, and grounded in curiosity rather than judgment. I incorporate spirituality from different traditions when it feels meaningful to the client, along with an eclectic blend of psychodynamic therapy, relational therapy, narrative therapy, and attachment theory. In session, we may explore the patterns, wounds, stories, relationships, and internal conflicts that shape how you see yourself and connect with others. My style is thoughtful, compassionate, reflective, and gently challenging. I believe therapy can help clients understand how old wounds continue to play out in present relationships while creating space for healing, self-acceptance, and more authentic ways of living.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, my focus is on creating a safe and respectful relationship where you feel able to share what brings you to therapy at your own pace. We will begin exploring the concerns you are carrying, whether they involve grief, trauma, family issues, relationship challenges, sexuality, LGBTQ+ concerns, anger, transitions, cross-cultural stress, or a desire for deeper spiritual and emotional clarity. I will listen closely, ask thoughtful questions, and begin getting a sense of the patterns, stories, and connections that may be important in our work together. My hope is that you leave feeling heard, understood, and more open to the possibility of healing and meaningful change.
