Great to meet you!

Practitioner Name: Carly Grimes

Title: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)

Hi! I’m Carly, a Licensed Professional Counselor and I am excited to meet you! I currently work with adults, teens and adolescents struggling to manage symptoms related to trauma as well as Depression, Anxiety, Substance Abuse and difficulties adjusting to life transitions such as stress due to academic/career and relationship changes. In the past, I have worked with those diagnosed with ADHD and learning disabilities, severe and persistent mental illness, individuals on the Autism Spectrum, and those with emotion regulation difficulties. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Temple University and a Master’s Degree in Professional Clinical Counseling from La Salle University.

I work with adolescents, teens and adults experiencing symptoms related to:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Trauma and stress
  • ADHD
  • Life Transitions
  • Academic and Career Stress
  • Relationship difficulties
  • I enjoy spending time with my family and friends including my 2 little pups! I love to be outside, staying active, playing pickleball, crafting and listening to audiobooks.

My approach to therapy

I am passionate about providing trauma-informed care and draw on interventions from different modalities in order to address individual needs.

My approaches include:

1. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Developing healthier thinking patterns to alleviate distressing emotions.

2. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT): Teaching emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and mindfulness to manage emotions and improve quality of life.

3. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): Alleviate the symptoms associated with traumatic and distressing memories using bilateral stimulation. (I am currently working towards certification.)

What you can expect from me

In our first session, my priority is to create a safe, supportive space where you feel comfortable sharing at your own pace. We will begin by discussing what brings you to therapy and what goals or hopes you have for our work together. I will also gather some background information to better understand your history and current challenges. This session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions about my approach and to get a sense of how we might work together. By the end, we will start identifying initial goals and next steps, while keeping the process collaborative and tailored to your needs.
