Great to meet you!

I’m Carly Tolbert, a licensed clinical social worker and founder of Kaftan Collective. I earned my master’s degree in social work from UCLA and have nearly 20 years of experience supporting children, families, and caregivers. My specialties include supporting caregiver mental health, helping individuals healing from trauma, and the cultivation of relationships that shape our well-being. As a Black woman and mother, I’m especially committed to offering care that honors the experiences of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color.

My approach to therapy

My style is warm, collaborative, and grounded in curiosity about your experience. I bring together reflective conversation, mindfulness, and somatic practices that help us notice how emotions and experiences show up in the body. We’ll explore how your relationships, culture, and the world around you influence what you’re navigating. Together, we’ll build on your strengths and find ways to support healing, connection, and choices that feel aligned with your values.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is a chance to get to know each other and talk about what brings you to therapy. I’ll ask about your current concerns, important relationships, and what you hope to gain from our work together. You can share at a pace that feels comfortable, and there will be room for your questions, too. We’ll begin identifying priorities together so we have a shared sense of where to start.
