Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Carneisha, most clients call me CJ. I'm a licensed social worker (MSW, University of Georgia) with five years of experience working with adults of all ages, including older adults and diverse populations such as Native American communities. I specialize in depression, mood and affect disorders, and personality disorders, and I bring a warm, affirming, genuinely curious presence to every session.

At my core, I'm a Rogerian meaning I believe you are the expert on your own life, and my job is to walk alongside you, not in front of you. You'll find this is a judgment-free space where we can explore what's shaped you, your history, your fears, your patterns and work together toward a version of yourself you actually recognize and feel good in.

My approach to therapy

I draw from a rich toolkit and I take a person-centered, holistic approach which means I meet you exactly where you are, not where I think you should be. I hold a genuine world view and bring open-minded curiosity to every client's story, because no two people's experiences of depression, trauma, or identity are the same.

Depending on what you're working through, I'll pull from different evidence-based methods. For trauma, I use Trauma-Focused CBT and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) -- structured, proven approaches that help make sense of what happened and reduce its grip on your daily life. For goals, habits, and shifting unhelpful patterns, I bring in CBT, SFBT, and Motivational Interviewing. ACT helps clients build flexibility and reconnect with what truly matters to them. Through it all, the relationship between us is the foundation, nothing moves without trust.

What you can expect from me

The first session is about connection, not evaluation. We'll talk about what brought you here, what your life looks like right now, and what you're hoping changes. I'll walk you through what the therapy process looks like with me, set some mutual expectations, and make sure you understand that showing up, however you're feeling that day is enough.

Most importantly, you'll leave knowing whether this feels like the right fit. I want you to walk out feeling seen, not summarized.
