Great to meet you!

I'm Carol Hernandez, a bilingual therapist, mother, and proud Latina woman deeply connected to my culture and community. I grew up between Southern California and the Rio Grande Valley, went to college at UTRGV in South Texas and did my graduate studies at Baylor University. Over the past five years, I've gotten to work in all kinds of settings such as hospitals, inpatient and outpatient programs, and alongside medical teams, which has given me a pretty wide view of how mental health shows up in people's lives. I love working with BIPOC, LGBTQ+, immigrant, and neurodivergent communities. I specialize in issues of anxiety, depression, chronic stress, trauma, big life changes, grief, post partum depression, or just feeling overwhelmed and not feeling like themselves. I show up with empathy, warmth, and a bit of directness.

My approach to therapy

I meet clients where they are, culturally, personally, and in the season of life you're in. Your identity, community, and your own lived experience are always at the center of our work. I want therapy to feel like a space where you're never judged, a place free of shame. I believe that growth sometimes means gently being challenged to see things through a different lens, the kind of perspective that can be hard to find on our own. So while I'll always hold space for you with warmth, I'll also explore things with you that help you look a little deeper. I integrate a variety of approaches, including DBT, CBT, ACT, Internal Family Systems, and somatic work. More than any single technique, I think of therapy as a partnership. Whether you're a single parent wearing many hats, a young professional feeling the weight of career stress, someone exploring who you are, or someone moving through grief, I want to walk alongside you as you heal, grow, and navigate your path forward.

What you can expect from me

In our first session I'll ask about what's brining you in, what you've been carrying, and what you're hoping might feel different in the future. Together we'll start to identify what you're working through and get a feel for what kind of support might help. My hope is that you leave our first session feeling heard, with a sense that this is a space dedicated to you, to connection, and to understanding.
