Great to meet you!
Thank you for being brave enough to look for support. Today, you are one step closer to feeling hopeful, empowered, and positive about your growth, healing, and your well-being. I consider myself a generalist practitioner, which means I treat a variety of concerns from trauma and behavioral issues, to learning to adult, learning to live with loss of independence, and everything in between. I believe wholeheartedly in focusing on strengths, addressing self-defeating internal dialogs, and using a mind, body, and spirit approach.
A little about what led me to become a therapist (in a nutshell): When I was a child, I wanted to be a counselor. Growing up in a culture of poverty, life seemed to pull me in a different direction. Instead of going to college, I got married, had two amazing boys, divorced, remarried, and entered a career in the business world. Although there were hardships, ultimately, I had what I thought was a good life! That is, until 2013, when my world shattered. My eldest son, Curtis, died by suicide. Just as many suicide survivors report, we never saw it coming. Years of grief ensued. With the help of Ryan's Place (https://www.ryansplace.org), I found my calling. After becoming a client (along with my son and grandson), I became a grief support group facilitator in 2015. I then returned to school full-time, completed my master's in social work, and received my Indiana Clinical Social Work License (LCSW). Since my journey began, I have gained a new perspective on life. My passion has become helping others navigate and survive their journey through grief, trauma, and life’s difficulties. I will forever be grateful to the therapists, volunteers, staff, and personal supports who held my hand and supported my heart as I healed and learned to find hope and a new normal in my life.
