Great to meet you!

I earned a Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Cincinnati after working in Children's Protective Services and Juvenile Court facilities. I have years of experience helping children, youth and families connect and function in more healthy ways. I see adults and couples as well, and strive to facilitate healing of hearts and marriages.

I have personal and professional experience in foster parenting and adoption. One of my special areas of interest is the effects of nutrition and exercise on mental health. I have utilized Equine-assisted Psychotherapy for twenty years as a specialty.

My approach to therapy

If you are motivated to improve your life or relationships, and will participate fully in the counseling process, then we will work very well together. Whether you struggle with anxiety, parenting challenges, life transitions, self-esteem, or maintaining good relationships, I will listen and give you feedback to guide your thinking and responses. We will set goals that are measurable and achievable so that you may feel successful in the process.

I serve to guide you, the client, in developing solutions to problems and implementing them. I primarily utilize a Cognitive-behavioral/Rational-Emotive Therapy approach, which helps in developing insight into your own thinking and behavior. You are then able to change how you feel and respond, giving you a greater sense of control over your life.

I enjoy each person I work with, as each is unique and brings his/her strengths and life experiences to the process. Our therapy is tailored to your situation, beliefs, and goals. We share, laugh and sometimes cry together. Most of all, we celebrate progress and accomplishments in improving your life.

What you can expect from me

In the first session, I hope to get to know you through a Biopsychosocial Assessment that will gauge your health and symptoms in different facets of your life. I want to know your goals for therapy, or help you in articulating them.
