Great to meet you!

As a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), I am committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care tailored to each individual’s unique needs. With over 15 years of experience as a Professor of Nursing Sciences at the University of Miami, I bring both advanced clinical expertise and a strong foundation in research and education to my practice.

My approach is collaborative, supportive, and nonjudgmental. I believe in creating a safe space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to take an active role in their healing and personal growth. I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, mood disorders, addiction, life transitions, and emotional stressors, using a combination of psychiatric evaluation, medication management, psychotherapy, and holistic wellness strategies.

I am passionate about helping clients achieve lasting emotional wellness by combining the latest research with compassionate, personalized care. My goal is to build meaningful therapeutic relationships that foster resilience, balance, and long-term mental health.

My approach to therapy

My approach to care is grounded in compassion, hope, and the belief that healing and growth are possible for everyone. I strive to create a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel safe being honest about their struggles, experiences, and goals.

I view mental health treatment as a collaborative process and work closely with each client to develop an individualized plan that supports emotional wellness, resilience, and long-term recovery. I combine evidence-based psychiatric care with empathy, active listening, and practical strategies tailored to each person’s unique needs and life circumstances.

I believe that people are more than their diagnosis or past experiences. No matter what challenges someone has faced, meaningful change and a fulfilling life are possible.

“As long as there is breath in your body, there is hope.” — Rosalind Tompkins

What you can expect from me

During your first session, you can expect a comprehensive and individualized evaluation focused on understanding you as a whole person — not just your symptoms. We take time to explore your mental health history, current challenges, medical background, lifestyle, relationships, stressors, strengths, and personal goals in order to develop a treatment plan tailored specifically to your needs.

My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and nonjudgmental. I want clients to feel heard, supported, and comfortable being open about their experiences. Together, we will identify the factors impacting your emotional wellbeing and discuss practical strategies, coping skills, and treatment options that can help you move forward with greater clarity and confidence.

When appropriate, we also offer genetic testing to help identify which psychiatric medications may be most effective and better tolerated based on your individual biology. In addition, we provide Cambridge Brain Sciences cognitive testing to help assess areas such as attention, memory, reasoning, and cognitive functioning, allowing us to create a more targeted and personalized treatment approach.

Above all, my goal is for every client to leave their first appointment feeling understood, empowered, and hopeful about their path toward healing and growth.
