Great to meet you!

After living and working in Northern and Southern California, Canada and other areas of the US as a Neuroscientist and Professor studying structures and function of certain brain systems for about 20 years, I went back to graduate school mid-life to study Clinical Psychology and become a Psychotherapist. I began counseling adults and adolescents throughout Los Angeles in 2014 during my Psychology graduate training program at Pepperdine. After obtaining MFT (Marriage and Family Therapist) licensure from California in 2020 I taught Psychology courses at Pepperdine University for 5 years while also building a telehealth practice during Covid. My current focus is providing individual therapy to adults and adolescents (age 12+) with attention to addressing stressors, frustrations, sadness and other issues related to family and other relationships, career counseling, life transitions and whatever else.

My approach to therapy

There are a finite number of minutes in life and one of my primary goals is to help people use the minutes of their lives in the best possible way. Life change is a significant issue that often brings people to therapy. We sort through challenges from whatever cause and weave together strategies that help move things back on course or in new or more satisfying directions.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is the most important meeting. The relationship of trust and understanding between a counselor and client is more important than any other aspect of therapy. During the first session we get to know one another as I find out more about your family and relationship background, while you advise me about areas you hope to cover in our sessions together. Some preliminary goals for therapy and a treatment approach tailored to individual needs and preferences is collaboratively discussed and identified during this initial session.
