Great to meet you!

I have been a registered nurse for 20 years and an advanced practice nurse for 7 years. I earned my nursing degree from University of Maryland, and completed masters work through George Washington University. With experience in neonatal intensive care, adult intensive care, primary care, and urgent care, I have seen some of the harder challenges that life can throw at a person. Currently I am certified in Perinatal Mental Health through Postpartum Support International, with a particular interest in treating moms and dads struggling with the challenges that come with the perinatal period.

A bit about my approach to therapy

It is with a holistic view and curiosity about the diversity of the human experience that I approach each individual on their mental health journey. Understanding that physical health, family history, lifestyle, cultural background, socioeconomic factors, and spiritual beliefs directly influence psychiatric health. And, I appreciate the curiosity and courage that it takes for you to set out on this journey towards optimal mental health for yourself, and your loved ones. It is my goal to offer you treatment options and guidance to help you transform psychological distress into a sense of resilience and life satisfaction.

What you can expect from our first session

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), whether brief or extended, is the technique that I prefer for helping you recognize unhelpful thought processes, providing evidence for them, and changing them into more positive ways of thinking, and therefore living.
