During the first session, you can expect a relaxed, conversational, and collaborative environment where we take time to get to know each other. We’ll talk about your personal history, current symptoms or stressors, what’s been bothering you recently, and what you’re hoping to get out of treatment. I’ll ask questions to better understand your mental health background, medical history, lifestyle, and any previous experiences with therapy or medications.
Together, we’ll begin developing a treatment plan and discuss possible next steps, whether that includes medication management, coping strategies, lifestyle adjustments, therapy recommendations, or a combination of approaches. I want patients to feel comfortable asking questions and being involved in decisions about their care, so there is always space for open discussion throughout the appointment.
My goal during the first visit is to help you feel heard, supported, and leave with a clearer understanding of both what may be contributing to their symptoms and what our game plan moving forward will look like.
