Great to meet you!

Hello — I’m Carolyn S. Riviere, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Certified Sex Therapist, trauma‐informed clinician, and CACII‐certified addiction therapist. My practice is rooted in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), attachment‐based approaches, trauma‐informed care, and recovery‐oriented modalities. I combine evidence‐informed clinical skills with lived experience from a long corporate career, entrepreneurship, and complex personal life transitions. My aim is to hold a warm, safe, and highly practical therapeutic space where individuals, couples, and families can heal, strengthen attachment, and create lasting change. Professional background and clinical training 🌟 I hold degrees in Business Administration (concentration: Marketing) and Psychology. For 27 years I worked in the corporate world with Fortune 500 companies including Xerox, SUN, Oracle, and IBM in sales and technical roles. That career cultivated strengths in systems thinking, negotiation, communication, and pragmatic problem solving — tools I now bring to clinical work. After pivoting into mental health, I pursued rigorous clinical training, becoming an LMFT and earning certifications in sex therapy and addiction treatment (CACII). I maintain trauma‐informed competencies and integrate evidence‐based models into a personalized therapy plan for each client. Lived experience and its influence on my work 🌱 My life includes single parenting, marriage, remarriage, divorce, overcoming major illnesses, midlife career changes, experiences of discrimination in the workplace, and entrepreneurship. I’m a proud mother of adult children and a grandmother. These experiences shaped my empathy, resilience, and practical understanding of how life stressors, identity shifts, health events, and career demands intersect with relationships and mental health. I use that lived knowledge to empathize deeply while maintaining clinical boundaries and ethical clarity.

My approach to therapy

Warm, focused therapist using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT): client-centered, emotionally attuned, and purposefully directive. I create a safe, collaborative space to explore attachment, clarify goals, and guide actionable steps. Expect compassionate validation, skill-building, and structured interventions to strengthen connections and promote lasting emotional change within couples and families for healing.

What you can expect from me

Expect a warm, supportive first session where we build safety, clarify goals, and gather your family history. Using MFT protocols, I’ll assess relationships, patterns, strengths, and core concerns, collaborate on measurable goals, and co-create a tailored treatment plan. You’ll be heard, respected, and guided toward hopeful next steps together confidentially.Would you like a version tail
