Great to meet you!

I believe that quality mental health care begins with compassion, understanding, and genuine human connection. I am a dual board-certified nurse practitioner in Psychiatric-Mental Health and Adult-Gerontology, bringing a comprehensive perspective to mental health care that recognizes the important connection between physical and emotional well-being.

I am passionate about helping individuals navigate life's challenges and improving their overall quality of life. My background in both medical and psychiatric care allows me to appreciate the complexities of mental health, particularly when emotional concerns intersect with chronic illness or other medical conditions.

I also specialize in psycho-oncology, providing psychiatric support to individuals navigating the emotional and psychological challenges associated with cancer diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship.

Above all, I value building meaningful connections with my patients and creating an environment where everyone feels heard, respected, and supported. My goal is for you to feel comfortable, understood, and confident in the care you receive.

My approach to therapy

My approach to care is compassionate, collaborative, and thoughtfully individualized. With 8 years of experience as a nurse practitioner in oncology and 5 years in mental health, I bring a comprehensive perspective to psychiatric care, recognizing the important connection between physical health, emotional well-being, and overall quality of life.

I utilize evidence-based treatment methods, including psychiatric medication management, supportive psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)-informed techniques, motivational interviewing, and psychoeducation. During our sessions, we may explore patterns of thinking and behavior, identify stressors, develop practical coping strategies, and discuss how medications, lifestyle factors, and medical conditions may influence your mental health. I believe in helping patients understand not only their treatment options but also the reasoning behind clinical recommendations.

My background in oncology has given me a particularly strong appreciation for the psychological impact of chronic illness, complex medical conditions, and major life transitions. This experience informs my holistic approach, allowing me to consider both the medical and emotional aspects of care while tailoring treatment to each person's unique circumstances.

I prioritize shared decision-making, open communication, and ongoing evaluation of treatment effectiveness. Whether we are discussing medication options, developing coping skills, or coordinating with other healthcare providers, my goal is to ensure you feel heard, informed, and empowered throughout your care. Together, we will develop a personalized treatment plan focused on meaningful, sustainable improvements in your mental health and overall well-being.

What you can expect from me

Your first appointment is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a foundation of trust and understanding. I recognize that seeking mental health care can feel overwhelming, especially when meeting a new provider, and my priority is to create a welcoming, comfortable, and judgment-free environment where you feel heard and respected.

During our initial session, we will take time to discuss your current concerns, symptoms, personal and medical history, previous treatment experiences, and what you hope to achieve through care. I will ask thoughtful questions to gain a comprehensive understanding of your mental health while also considering the physical, emotional, and lifestyle factors that may be influencing your well-being.

Together, we will explore potential treatment options, discuss your preferences, and begin developing a personalized plan that aligns with your needs and goals. I encourage questions and open communication, and there is never an expectation that you share more than you feel comfortable discussing.

Most importantly, I want you to leave our first session feeling heard, supported, and hopeful about the next steps in your mental health journey.
