Great to meet you!

When life feels heavy, confusing, or harder to manage than it used to, having the right support can make all the difference. I began working in the mental health field 20 years ago after earning my undergraduate degree from Averett University, and later returned to school to earn my Master’s in Counseling from Old Dominion University. Over the course of my career, I have worked with a wide range of individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, psychosis, crisis situations, and chronic stress. Many of the people I support come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, stuck in survival mode, or unsure how to move forward. My goal is to provide a steady, compassionate space where you can feel understood, build coping skills, and begin working toward greater clarity, stability, and emotional well-being.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is flexible and responsive to the needs of each client and their unique circumstances. I am EMDR-trained and trauma-informed, and I believe our thoughts, emotions, and lived experiences are deeply connected. I work with clients experiencing trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, stress, emotional overwhelm, and symptoms that may be affecting relationships, work, or daily functioning. Together, we explore the patterns contributing to distress, process difficult experiences, and develop practical strategies for healing and growth. My goal is to help you feel more aligned, grounded, and emotionally regulated so that your head and heart can begin working together rather than against each other.

What you can expect from me

During the first session, you can expect a welcoming and supportive start to the therapy process. We will complete intake paperwork, begin building rapport, and talk through the concerns that brought you in, whether that includes anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, stress, crisis-related experiences, or feeling overwhelmed by life. We will also begin identifying your goals for therapy and exploring what progress would look like for you. My aim is for you to leave that first session feeling heard, respected, and more hopeful, with a clearer sense of direction and a plan for moving forward.
