Carrie Muhlstein

I am a New York State licensed clinical social worker with over 20 years of experience supporting children, adolescents, and adults across both inpatient and outpatient health and mental health settings. In addition, I have spent nearly a decade as a summer camp director, working closely with children and their families through both exciting milestones and challenging times. (Please note that due to my summer camp obligations, my availability is limited during the summer months. I encourage clients to plan accordingly, and I’m happy to discuss scheduling options or continuity of care in advance.)

I take an integrative and personalized approach to therapy, drawing from a range of modalities rather than adhering to just one. I believe that every person is unique, and so the therapeutic process should be tailored to fit your individual needs, goals, and circumstances. While I may incorporate elements from approaches such as psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral or mindfulness-based therapies, my focus is always on meeting you where you are.

Everyone faces challenges at times—whether in relationships, at work, or while trying to figure out who they want to be. Psychotherapy provides a supportive space to explore these struggles, gain insight, and develop tools to manage difficult emotions, relationships, and life transitions. I will meet you where you are, offering compassion and, when helpful, a new perspective. Together, we’ll work toward alternative strategies that can help you feel less “stuck” and more empowered in your daily life.
