Caryl Brent

My name is Caryl and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York State who has over 40 years of experience in working with a variety of issues including PTSD/Trauma, women's issues, Veteran concerns, depression, anxiety, job/vocational stress and problems with alcohol/substance abuse. I have been trained in a variety of different approaches including Interpersonal, Adlerian, EMDR, Attachment Theory, and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy.

I try to be flexible and adapt my therapeutic approach to the individuality of the client. I have been trained in many approaches in order to select the best form of treatment for you. I try to adapt the therapy to the client and not the client to a specific form of therapy.

I attempt to create a safe haven for people in which they can be open and not feel judged. I am interested in getting to know the person and not just their problems and concerns. It also helps me to see what has worked or not worked in the past in tackling their issues.
