Great to meet you!

I’m Casey O’Brien, LCSW, a Colorado-licensed clinical social worker who works with both individuals and couples. I earned my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work from Florida Atlantic University and have experience supporting clients through relationship challenges, major life transitions, mental health concerns, and the process of building a life in recovery.

I work with clients from a wide range of backgrounds and welcome LGBTQIA+ clients, those who practice non-monogamy, and people exploring relationships, intimacy, sexuality, and identity. I believe these parts of our lives deserve to be talked about openly and without judgment.

I believe therapy should be a space where you feel genuinely seen, respected, and able to bring forward the parts of yourself or your relationships that may be difficult to talk about elsewhere. My goal is to create a space where you can show up as you are and explore what matters most to you.

My approach to therapy

My approach is grounded in humanistic and psychoanalytic perspectives, with an emphasis on understanding your unique experiences, relationships, patterns, and inner world. Rather than assuming there is one “right” way to move forward, I approach therapy with curiosity, mutual respect, care, and compassion.

Together, we may explore patterns that show up in your relationships, the experiences that have shaped how you understand yourself and others, and what may be getting in the way of the connection, intimacy, or fulfillment you want. I believe greater awareness can create more room for choice and help you develop a deeper understanding of what you want and need.

Whether I’m working with an individual or a couple, I strive to create a supportive, collaborative, and non-judgmental environment where difficult conversations can happen at a pace that feels manageable.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is an opportunity for us to begin getting to know one another and for me to better understand what brings you to therapy. We’ll talk about what has been happening in your life or relationships, what feels most important right now, and what you hope therapy might help you explore or change.

You don’t need to arrive with everything figured out or know exactly where to begin. We can take our time identifying what feels most important and begin noticing the experiences, relationships, and patterns that may be contributing to where you feel stuck.

If you’re coming in as a couple, we’ll make space for each partner’s perspective while beginning to understand the patterns and dynamics happening between you. My goal is for our first session to feel collaborative, respectful, and supportive while giving us a foundation for the work ahead.
