Great to meet you!

Hello! My name is Casey Smedley, and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. I have been practicing since 2020, and have worked primarily in private-practice settings conducting individual counseling. I have a Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wright State University. Right now, I generally work with and have experience in treating depression, anxiety, trauma, and fears/phobias. I am an advocate for and work with LGBTQIA+ populations, but am open to working with anyone from any backgrounds 16 and up.

My approach to therapy

I want to make sure that I'm tailoring counseling to fit your unique needs. With that, I'll adjust my style and direction to suit each client. This may involve more reflective and introspective talk-therapy, working with your thoughts with a variety of coping skills, creating a sense of mindfulness and awareness of your mind and body. In the past, I have incorporated modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based skill-building, self-esteem/self-image work, and interpersonal and relationship resolutions. More likely however, we will use a mixture of these styles and modalities as we continue working together.

What you can expect from me

First and foremost, I want to create an environment where you feel comfortable when starting counseling. I'd like to get to know your preferences, past experiences with counseling services, and needs with the space and our interactions to start. As we begin, I want to hear from the expert on you—which is you! I'd like to understand your past and what brought you to counseling services, as this often helps to guide the process and give us a starting point to collaboratively map out together.
