My approach to therapy

My approach is rooted in empathy, genuine care, and deep understanding, creating a safe and supportive space where clients feel seen, heard, and respected. I meet clients where they are, honoring their lived experiences while recognizing their strengths and resilience.

What you can expect from me

In your first session, clients can expect a welcoming, supportive, and judgment-free space where they are encouraged to share at their own pace. The initial session is focused on getting to know you as a person, understanding what brings you to therapy, and identifying what you hope to gain from counseling. You will review important information such as confidentiality, consent, and the therapy process, ensuring clients feel informed and comfortable. Together, you’ll discuss current concerns, personal history, strengths, and any past experiences with therapy that may be helpful to know Rather than diving too deeply into difficult topics right away, the first session prioritizes building trust and safety. Clients are not expected to have all the answers or know exactly what to say guidance and gentle questions help shape the conversation.

By the end of the session, clients can expect to:

  • Feel heard, validated, and respected
  • Have a clearer understanding of how therapy works
  • Begin identifying goals for treatment
  • Collaboratively discuss next steps and what future sessions may look like
