Great to meet you!

I’m Cassie Dorau, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Navy veteran providing in-person and telehealth therapy throughout Texas. I work with children, teens, and adults, with particular experience supporting veterans, first responders, neurodivergent individuals, and people living with chronic illness or disability. I also help clients navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, burnout, grief, and major life transitions. At Haunted Healing Counseling, I believe therapy should be a place where you can show up as your authentic self, especially if you’ve ever felt like the outcast, the overlooked, or someone who never quite fit the mold.

My approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative, practical, and grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and trauma-informed care. I believe you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to help you understand yourself, build useful skills, and move toward what matters most to you. I tailor therapy to your personality, needs, and goals rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. I also believe therapy can include humor, honesty, creativity, and a space where you don’t have to censor yourself or make your experiences more “palatable.”

What you can expect from me

Your first session is about getting to know each other, understanding what brought you to therapy, and figuring out what you want help with. You don’t need to have your story perfectly organized or know exactly what you need before we begin. I’ll ask questions, listen, and give you space to share at your own pace while we start identifying goals together. Most importantly, I want you to feel comfortable being yourself, without worrying about saying the “right” thing or filtering your experience to make it easier for someone else to hear.
