Great to meet you!
Interpersonal relationships are my focus in therapy. I work with individual adults on issues that stem from any relationship with others. Often, these are related to one’s family of origin. I use family systems theory and behavioral methods, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), among other types of therapy. I provide emotional support for those experienced religious abuse. I won’t impose a belief system on you. I’m here to listen to you as you find yours.
There is a lot of talk these days about narcissistic abuse. It is important to note that diagnosing someone else with narcissistic personality disorder—or anything else is not helpful or possible in the course of your therapy. Knowing how to respond to a difficult person, whether or not they have narcissistic tendencies, is what will have the most positive impact on your life.
I declared a psychology major as an undergraduate in 1984, and working with people has been my life-long professional focus. I hold two master of arts degrees: Psychology with an emphasis in behavioral medicine from the University of the Pacific, Stockton, CA (1990), and marital and family therapy from the University of San Francisco, San Francisco, CA (1993). I also earned a doctoral degree in counseling Psychology (Psy.D.) from the University of San Francisco, San Francisco, CA (2005).
