I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, serving clients from all ages for over 10 years. I completed my master's in social work from the University of Southern California in 2013 and have been practicing in Louisville, KY since then.
I use Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients cope with a myriad of things, include chronic issues, as they both teach coping skills and aid in adapting to situations that are immutable. ACT helps clients learn how to cope with difficult emotions: once a client is able to process the idea that thoughts and feelings are affected by the events they experience, the people they meet and the environment they live in.
I work collaboratively with clients, to find what they want to achieve and help chart the course so they can make the decision on where they want their therapy and life to go. I believe that the client is the expert on themselves and where they see their life going- I am merely the tour director, I help them figure out HOW to get where they want to go, I don't tell them where they are going. Ultimately, we work together to identify and challenge thought patterns that keep them trapped.
