Great to meet you!

Hello. My name is Kati McDermott. I am a licensed mental health counselor and excited to help you take steps towards better mental health. I obtained my bachelors degrees from Elms college in both social work and psychology. I went on to earn my masters of science from Walden university in mental health counseling. I specialize in depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and relationship issues.

A bit about my approach to therapy

I work from an eclectic approach. I believe Different modalities of treatment are needed at different time. I do focus on a person centered approach as well as cognitive behavioral therapy techniques. I also utilize motivational interviewing and acceptance and commitment therapy. I will also use a realistic approach; I’m not afraid to challenge you so that you can grow as a person and face obstacles that occur in life.

What you can expect from our first session

We will set goals for treatment together during our first session. After that each week we will check in on those goals and sometimes I may provide you with therapeutic worksheets to help you achieve these goals.
