Great to meet you!

Cecil E. Wattree, LCSW, LSCSW is a dedicated and experienced therapist with over a decade of work in behavioral and medical health. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Emporia State University and a Master of Social Work from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

I am the founder and lead therapist at Radical Empowerment Services, where I provide individual, couples, and family therapy through an approach rooted in holistic, trauma-responsive, and equitable care. My practice integrates evidence-based modalities including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Mind-Body Medicine, and recovery counseling for addictive behaviors.

In addition to my clinical work, I have extensive experience in community leadership, education, and policy advocacy — all of which inform my commitment to helping clients heal, grow, and thrive. I believe in meeting people where they are, centering their strengths, and empowering them to move toward lasting well-being.

My approach to therapy

My work with clients is rooted in creating a safe, affirming, and collaborative space where people feel seen, heard, and supported. I believe in a holistic and trauma-responsive approach that considers each person’s unique story, strengths, and goals.

My style is warm, direct, and solution-focused. I draw on evidence-based therapies such as DBT, ACT, MI, EMDR, and Mind-Body Medicine to help clients build practical skills, process difficult experiences, and reconnect with their sense of agency and purpose.

I specialize in working with individuals, couples, and families navigating life transitions, stress, anxiety, trauma, and addictive behaviors. I also have extensive experience supporting clients who want to explore how systemic oppression, cultural identity, or community challenges impact their mental health.

No matter where you’re starting, my goal is to help you develop sustainable tools for healing and growth — and to walk alongside you as you move toward the life you want to live.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect to leave our sessions with a greater sense of clarity, practical tools they can use in their daily lives, and a renewed belief in their own capacity to heal and grow.

Together, we focus on building skills for emotional regulation, healthy boundaries, and meaningful connections. Whether we’re working through past trauma, managing stress and anxiety, or addressing addictive behaviors, my goal is to help you develop sustainable strategies that honor your strengths and align with your values.

I create an environment that is compassionate, nonjudgmental, and grounded in respect for your lived experience. My hope is that every session feels like a safe place to explore hard truths, celebrate progress, and reclaim your story on your own terms.
