I’ve been using CBT in my practice for the past three years. It’s helped many of my clients challenge reoccurring thoughts and manage their anxiety and depression. We’ll use CBT to recognize the relationship between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and how they influence your day to day mood. We’ll then use that knowledge to change/restructure your thinking patterns, which will help you increase emotional regulation which will help you live a healthier/stable life.
I may at times assign some homework, whether it be a recommendation to practice a coping skills, to put communication techniques to practice, prioritize self care, or even assign a book to consider reading. While there is never any pressure to complete the homework, I do want my clients to have an open mind. My purpose of assigning homework is to support the interventions used during sessions. Outside of our scheduled time together, I am available through messaging via client portal and even through phone in between sessions Monday through Friday 9am through 5pm (not including holidays). Given the structure of my private practice, I am not available for contact outside of my business hours.
