My name is Chami and I do my best to create a warm space for my clients. I got my M.Ed at Temple University, and their emphasis on diversity, inclusion, and affirming treatment is deeply rooted in my own practice. I have spent quite a bit of of my practice, working with people who struggle with things like addiction, abusive relationships, mood disorders, and trauma.
I think all clients deserve an individualized approach from their therapist. I take a very humanistic and direct approach with most of my clients. Some sessions are for sitting with particularly uncomfortable feelings and trauma together, and other sessions may be for celebrating triumphs, or sharing a good laugh. My clients have shared incredible artwork with me--paintings, poems, songs they have written, etc. I encourage clients to bring whatever feels intuitively right for them to sessions (whether that be slippers, a snack, or a guitar).
My clients can always expect to take away the feeling being understood and cared for from my sessions. My studies have been wonderful and hugely impactful to who I am as a therapist, but my personal experience as a client in several different settings and my own exposure, allow me to really see my clients and sit with them in their vulnerable moments. I believe that everyone is deserving of the therapeutic space, especially in such challenging times.
