Chanel Townsend

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Tennessee. I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, GA and my Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Southern California, with a concentration in Mental Health and a sub-concentration in military. I have experience as a community-based in-home counselor and a mobile crisis counselor working with children and families. I also have experience with adults and children in a psychiatric hospital, in integrated care as a counselor in a community health center, and I currently work with adults in a private practice. I love to help others reach their best potential by enhancing life skills and self-awareness through a supportive and encouraging environment. As a lover of inspirational quotes, one of my favorites is “The biggest adventure you can take is to live the life of your dreams” – Oprah Winfrey.

I have a warm and encouraging approach to therapy, providing a non-judgmental environment to further encourage my clients to be open to exploring their own challenges, thus moving closer to healing and achieving personal goals.

Although the word "homework" may seem intimidating, I love to provide relevant skills and interventions to practice in between sessions to encourage individual skill building. Therapy with me will increase your self-awareness, promote your ability to problem solve, heal from challenging life experiences.
