Great to meet you!

I have a specialized background in working with queer people of color and all of the diverse experiences that show up in our community. However, I do try to be as expansive as possible in the clients and populations I serve - so, even if the topics you're interested in aren't listed here, I am always open to having a consultation to see if we'd be a good match!

My approach to therapy

My approach in sessions is multimodal and integrative. My main priority is to be non-hierarchically collaborative with clients, with an awareness that there is no one-size-fits-all approach in therapy. Think of me as a "thought partner" rather than an authority figure. I welcome client feedback in sessions so we can ultimately build a dynamic that feels authentic and comfortable for both of us.

What you can expect from me

Throughout my time as a therapist, one of the keywords that has become integral to my work is "balance". I find that the clients who benefit the most from our work together strive to not fully vanquish "negative" emotions, but rather aim to understand how their proclivities might be skewed as to introduce a more balanced approach to them. As a queer Asian American, I also operate with an awareness that my clients' challenges do not exist in a vacuum. Because of this, my clients and I work together with the implicit acknowledgment of the social structures that impact emotional functioning.

I believe the best therapy starts with the building of an authentic, caring relationship to create ideal room for trust and collaboration. The primary approaches I integrate draw from person-centered, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, and existential therapy. In short, I aim to help clients build insight to understand the complexities of their issues.
