Great to meet you!

With over 30 years of experience in mental health and addictions treatment, I bring a grounded, compassionate, and practical approach to psychotherapy. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with extensive experience across the full continuum of care.

I take a broad-minded, nonjudgmental approach, recognizing that people come to therapy with diverse life experiences, identities, and goals. Some clients seek short-term support to address a specific concern, while others choose longer-term therapy to explore deeper emotional patterns, relationships, and life transitions. I work collaboratively with clients to determine the pace and focus of treatment and strive to create a space that feels safe, respectful, and supportive.

In addition to my clinical practice, I am near completion of a Doctorate in Education, where my research has focused on self-care in the workplace and organizational factors that contribute to burnout. This work has deepened my understanding of how systemic pressures—such as workload, role expectations, and organizational culture—affect individual well-being, particularly in high-stress professions.

A developing area of specialization in my practice is supporting professionals who are experiencing burnout or seeking to prevent it. Many clinicians enter their professions with a strong sense of purpose and compassion, only to find themselves emotionally depleted over time. I work to help people examine both internal patterns and external stressors, develop sustainable self-care practices, and reconnect with a sense of meaning in their work.

My approach to therapy

My clinical orientation is psychodynamically informed, with attention to how early experiences and relational patterns influence present-day challenges. I also integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients develop practical tools, identify and challenge unhelpful thinking patterns, and strengthen coping strategies that support everyday functioning. This integrative approach allows therapy to be both reflective and action-oriented.

What you can expect from me

The most important factor in successful therapy is the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist. While rapport is often established early in our work together, I also value ongoing feedback and believe it is important to revisit whether therapy feels helpful and productive. If at any point it does not, I am open to discussing this and can assist with referrals if a different therapeutic fit would be more beneficial.

Before our first session, I typically have a brief phone conversation or review your intake information to gain an initial understanding of what brings you to therapy. At the beginning of each session, I will check in about key areas such as mood, anxiety, sleep, appetite, risk factors, and sources of support. This allows us to track progress over time and adjust our work as needed.

My goal is to get to know you as a whole person and to understand what motivated you to seek therapy, so that we can begin addressing your concerns in a focused, thoughtful, and collaborative way.
