Great to meet you!

Hey! I am Charlene, a bilingual therapist. Being born and raised in the vibrant, multicultural environment of New York City profoundly shaped who I am and how I practice. My lived experiences allow me to connect with clients of all backgrounds in a genuine, down-to-earth, and relatable way.

I am deeply passionate about providing inclusive, accessible, and destigmatizing mental health services to diverse communities. I welcome clients of all ages and identities, and I have extensive experience supporting individuals and families through a variety of challenges, including:

  • Anxiety and depression
  • Trauma and life transitions
  • LGBTQ+ issues and identity exploration
  • Acculturation stress and cultural identity

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is rooted in collaboration, compassion, and cultural humility. I utilize a strengths-based and trauma-informed framework—meaning we won't just look at what is "wrong," but we will actively focus on the inherent resilience and strengths you already possess.

While I frequently draw upon evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you navigate your challenges, I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. I carefully tailor my interventions to honor your unique needs, personal goals, and cultural background. Above all, I am dedicated to creating a highly supportive, safe, and non-judgmental space where you feel truly heard, understood, and valued.

What you can expect from me

I know that reaching out for help and starting therapy can feel intimidating, so my primary goal in our first session is simply to make you feel comfortable and welcome. We will go entirely at your pace.

Think of our first meeting as a "get to know you" session. We will discuss what brought you to therapy, explore your history, and talk about what you hope to achieve during our time together. You can expect a warm, conversational environment where you can speak freely without fear of judgment. By the end of our first session, my goal is for you to feel a sense of relief, a clear understanding of how we will work together, and a renewed sense of hope for the journey ahead.
