Great to meet you!

I am a clinical psychologist with 45 years of experience helping individuals work through anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, self-esteem challenges, and more. I practice in Cortland, New York, and have built my career around creating a warm, accessible, and genuinely supportive environment for every person I work with. My training includes Honors in Psychology at Dartmouth College, along with decades of clinical experience. I believe that reaching out for help is an act of courage, and I am committed to honoring that courage with my full attention, care, and expertise. Whether you are facing a lifelong struggle or navigating a difficult season, I am here to walk alongside you.

My approach to therapy

My approach is rooted in genuine connection and a deep respect for each person's unique story. I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all method. Instead, I draw on decades of clinical experience to tailor my work to your specific needs, whether that involves addressing anger management, behavioral challenges, anxiety, bipolar disorder, or the quieter struggles around self-esteem and isolation. I take a direct but compassionate stance: I will be honest with you, I will be warm, and I will work collaboratively with you toward meaningful progress. As appropriate, I may use cognitive behavioral tools and homework to help you achieve your therapy goals.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, I focus on getting to know you, including your concerns, your history, and what you are hoping to achieve through therapy. There is no pressure to have everything figured out; many people arrive simply knowing that something needs to change. I will ask thoughtful questions, listen carefully, and work with you to identify the most meaningful path forward. My goal is that you leave our first meeting feeling heard, respected, and hopeful about the work ahead.
