Great to meet you!

Hi. I will take time to understand the things that you are wrestling with and help you to become more equipped, empowered, and motivated to tackle the obstacles that stand in your way. Helping to reframe, see a different perspective, remember and utilize your strengths, and overcome the hurdles will be the things that you will become most excited about.

My approach to therapy

I completed my residency in Psychiatry at the University of Virginia and then a fellowship in Forensic Psychiatry at UCLA. I am able to understand many of the issues that you may be trying to conquer (or perhaps already feel defeated by) and can make use of medication when helpful, talking and reframing ideas, providing feedback on your approaches, and helping to present potential outcomes from a variety of paths that might be taken. It becomes your unique journey, but feeling in charge of your decision-making and adapting the mindset of the adventurous pioneer may be exactly what creates the motivation and anticipation you need.

What you can expect from me

In general, our first visits allow both of us to get a sense of one another. You will have the opportunity to share with me some of the struggles that you may be facing and attempts that you've made to take them on. We will have an opportunity to discuss previous treatments that you've tried and why they may (or may not) have worked well at some point in time. We will be able to discuss any previous experiences with psychiatrists and whether they were helpful or even if a person you've met with before may have left you more bewildered than when you started. At times, unfortunately, that can happen; it rarely does with me. That's usually because my approach is more often to listen rather than to tell; and to be humble and sensitive, rather than rushed and authoritarian. You certainly will be able to trust my medical & psychological approaches, but as importantly, you will feel comfortable and cared about in the process.
