Great to meet you!

I’m Dr. Chuck Howard, a licensed psychologist and board-certified clinical psychologist with more than 35 years of experience. I work with adults, especially older adults who are coping with chronic pain, health difficulties, anxiety, stress, or major life changes. My background includes many years in medical settings, along with advanced training in clinical psychopharmacology and extensive experience helping people understand the connections among physical health, emotions, and daily functioning. I strive to offer practical support while recognizing the dignity, strengths, and individual experiences of each person.

My approach to therapy

My approach is warm, respectful, and collaborative, with a strong emphasis on genuine human-to-human connection. I draw from cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy, along with education about how thoughts, emotions, behavior, and physical health affect one another. We may work on practical ways to manage anxiety or pain while also learning how to make room for difficult experiences without allowing them to control your life. Throughout therapy, I emphasize respect, caring, personal values, and building a life that feels meaningful.

What you can expect from me

Our first session will be a relaxed conversation about what has been happening, how it has affected your life, and what you hope will improve. I will take time to understand your health concerns, emotional experiences, strengths, and important relationships rather than focusing only on symptoms. Together, we will identify your priorities and begin developing a practical plan suited to your needs and pace. My goal is for you to leave feeling heard and respected, along with some solid information, techniques, or strategies for addressing your struggles.
