Great to meet you!

Greetings. I'm Dr. Charles Jack, a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in NY and NJ who has worked in behavioral health and therapy services for over 20 years. My initial work focused on developmental disabilities/Autism and emotional-behavioral challenges in children and adolescents, then shifted to include specialization in trauma-informed care. My work with adults has focused mostly on individuals working through trauma-related difficulties, relationship issues, and returning to work following physical and other injuries.

All services have been and continue to be evidence-based practices.

I trained in Psychology and Philosophy and pre-med studies at the University at Buffalo (SUNY Buffalo) and worked with children and adults with developmental disabilities for several years before shifting focus to include trauma care and adult mental health issues in the following decades. I returned to university work to complete a specialized doctorate in Clinical Psychology to establish a private practice where I have been providing a wide range of services both in-office and remotely.

I have advanced training as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP I/II) and have an Intensive Trauma Certification (ITTP) and am an Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist (ASD-CS).

I have worked in a variety of settings including outpatient clinics, rehab hospitals, schools, residential support facilities, and community mental health programs. I have extensive experience treating PTSD, anxiety, depression, oppositional behavior, and the effects of complex trauma.

I also provide supervision and training for mental health professionals.

My approach to therapy

My services generally follow the cognitive behavioral approach that I find to be the most effective, and have been trained in the CBT treatment model, but I am qualified to provide other systems of support such as psychodynamic therapy, Jungian therapy, DBT/ACT, Rorschach, and family systems approaches. My clinical work integrates behavioral, neurobiological, developmental, and trauma-related modes of treatment to ensure that it matches the needs presented by various patients that are individualized to fit every client.

What you can expect from me

Sessions with me are driven by the needs and preferences of the individuals I am working with, with guidance provided as appropriate to ensure that we are working on their goals in the most effective way. Goals suggested to my patients are solution-focused, targeted, and short- to medium-length in duration in the tradition of cognitive-behavioral therapy. A significant portion of my patients do choose a longer-term therapy relationship and for them the goals are built in a progressive, skill- building style as appropriate to their individual needs and preferences.
