Great to meet you!

I am a 2nd generation Korean American from Baltimore, MD living in Miami, FL. I graduated from Yale University and worked in pastoral counseling before returning to Northeastern University for graduate school. Although no longer a Christian counselor, I believe moral formation is one of the fundamental developmental tasks of adulthood. I specialize in depression, anxiety, stage of life issues, spiritual/religious transitions, character/identity formation, career issues, relationships, and family dynamics.

My approach to therapy

I believe in a balance of relationship and skills or process and content. Ideally, our sessions would be like an episode of This American Life; authentic and true to life. I want our sessions to be like one long conversation that results in increased self-awareness and an expanded behavioral "toolbox" to manage negative feelings and challenges while building on the innate strengths of each person.

What you can expect from me

"Let nothing that is human be alien to me." -Terence

"That which is most personal is most universal." -Carl Rogers

My approach involves creating a safe and non-judgmental space for clients to explore their thoughts and feelings. I believe freeing the natural impulse to thrive is the engine of all therapy, and that shame is the main impediment to growth. I tailor my approach to create specific interventions that put into practice new behaviors and thoughts that align with insight gained in session.
