Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Charlette Parker-Edwards, LMHC also known as The People’s Psychotherapist. I hold a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a focus on Couples and Family Therapy from William James College. My work centers around supporting any individuals, families, caregivers, and survivors within (BIPOC) all communities, approaching through trauma-informed and culturally responsive care lens.

I specialize in helping clients navigate grief, trauma, anxiety, and life transitions by creating a safe, nonjudgmental space for healing. My goal is to meet you where you are and walk beside you in your growth. Here on Headway launching my own practice, If You Only Knew (IY'OK) Therapy and Counseling Services, where every story is honored and every step forward matters.

A bit about my approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is client-centered, culturally responsive, and grounded in compassion. I believe healing begins with trust, so I create a supportive space where clients feel safe, seen, and heard. I integrate trauma-informed care with interventions of narrative therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, motivational interviewing and cognitive-behavioral therapy techniques while honoring each person’s lived experience, especially within BIPOC communities.

Whether we’re working through grief, anxiety, relationship dynamics, or life transitions, I meet clients where they are without judgment and guide them toward clarity, empowerment, and emotional resilience. I also focus on intergenerational healing and identity exploration, helping clients break cycles and redefine their personal stories.

What you can expect from our first session

Clients can expect to leave sessions with me feeling affirmed, supported, and empowered. Pain shared, is pain lessened! I create a warm, judgment-free space where you can safely explore your thoughts, emotions, and life experiences. My goal is to help you build emotional resilience, gain deeper self-awareness, and develop tailored realistic coping strategies that support your mental wellness long-term.

Together, we’ll work toward healing old wounds, setting healthy boundaries, and breaking cycles that no longer serve you so you can show up for yourself and others with renewed willingness, deep humanity, transformational healing, strength, and understanding.
