Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Charricka Hewitt, LPC. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and more than 11 years of experience supporting children, adolescents, adults, and families through academic, behavioral, emotional, and social challenges.

My professional background includes counseling, special education, child and family services, and leadership in education. These experiences have given me a unique perspective on how mental health can be influenced by relationships, family dynamics, school, work, stress, trauma, and major life transitions.

I work with clients experiencing concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship and family challenges, emotional regulation, behavioral concerns, self-esteem, stress, and adjustment to life changes. I believe therapy should be a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can be honest about what you are experiencing and feel supported as you work toward meaningful change.

Whether you are navigating a difficult season, trying to understand patterns that keep repeating, or simply looking for support and practical tools, I’m here to meet you where you are.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, compassionate, and individualized. I don’t believe therapy should be a one-size-fits-all experience. I take time to understand your experiences, strengths, relationships, goals, and the circumstances affecting your current concerns.

I use evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), mindfulness, psychoeducation, and strengths-based interventions. Depending on your needs, we may explore how thoughts, emotions, behaviors, relationships, and past experiences are connected and identify practical strategies that can support meaningful change.

I view you as the expert on your own life, while my role is to provide guidance, perspective, tools, and a supportive environment where you can explore what is happening without judgment. Together, we will identify realistic goals and work at a pace that feels appropriate for you.

My goal is for therapy to be both a place to process and a place to build skills you can use outside of the therapy room.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin understanding what brings you to therapy. I’ll create a welcoming, comfortable, and nonjudgmental environment where you can share as much as you feel comfortable sharing.

We’ll discuss your current concerns, relevant personal and family history, relationships, strengths, stressors, and what you hope to gain from therapy. We’ll also talk about your goals and begin identifying areas where support or change may be helpful.

I’ll explain how I work, answer questions you may have, and collaborate with you on an initial plan for treatment. You do not need to have everything figured out before your first session. My goal is for you to leave with a clearer understanding of what we’ll work on together and to feel heard, respected, and supported.
