Great to meet you!

Chelsea is a Licensed Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor, Approved Clinical Supervisor and a Certified Clinical Trauma Anxiety Professional.

As an athlete having swam for high school and college level teams, she values the connection between mental and physical health, believing that a holistic and integrative approach leads to the best outcomes in overall well-being.

In addition, she is an educator, mentor and public speaker. Chelsea was honored to be awarded the NJ Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association’s (NJPRA) “Supervisor of the Year” in 2019.

Though work is one of her biggest passions, Chelsea enjoys spending time with her family, riding motorcycles, weightlifting, trying to assemble LEGO figurines and playing the drums. She enjoys talking to random strangers in public, being quirky and attempting to (poorly) speak Spanish.

My approach to therapy

With over 18 years of experience in behavioral health, she is passionate about providing empowering, evidence-based care to individuals seeking support for their mental well-being. Chelsea integrates motivational interviewing with the support of harm reduction coaching - using challenging change talk and take home assignments to facilitate personal improvement, with a great sense of humor. Chelsea’s background also includes extensive work with the underserved homeless populations with serious mental illness (SMI) across New Jersey, as well as survivors of domestic abuse. Previous community work has included working in homes on hoarding disorder/OCD tendencies, along with deep understanding of how to work with psychotic & personality disorders. Chelsea also has experience collaborating with state owned psychiatric institutions. Chelsea is a strong advocate for veterans, law enforcement and all first responders, as well.

What you can expect from me

Taking the first step is the most difficult, so you will be celebrated for making the effort to show up and do something difficult - putting in the time to work on yourself. Education on how session and treatment plans are created and clinical approach and philosophy on diagnostic criteria will be discussed. An easy going, open ended discussion will then take place to get to know the person and decide together where to go from here in the next sessions. Request for feedback is also a large part of the therapeutic process, so if it is not the right fit, you will be assisted in finding the counselor you click with!
