Hello, it's wonderful to meet you!

My name is Cheryl Foster. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Board Approved Clinical Supervisor. I have extensive experience working with individuals and couples from diverse populations and backgrounds. Throughout my career which spans over 30 years, I have provided crisis intervention/case management and counseling in community mental health and secondary education spaces. I have also established and maintained a private practice for over 20 years. I specialize and embrace the privilege of supporting adults through complex life transitions, grief/loss, anxiety/depression, unresolved trauma, healing from family or origin/parental wounds and relational abuse. I am also highly skilled and attuned in working with high functioning individuals recovering from a perfectionistic mindset and offer support for women-centered issues throughout the life span, including postpartum and menopause challenges.

My therapeutic approach is nurturing, engaging and collaborative while utilizing strategies/methods that are supported by research and cultivate healing, self-awareness and lasting change. As your therapist, I will cultivate a space of safety, transparency, ask challenging questions as needed to give room for critical thinking , existential exploration and meaningful introspection.

Though I am a culturally sensitive and a trauma informed therapist, I believe strongly in the resilience of the human condition and with great intention will empower you to identify your strengths and understand the complexities of the circumstances that shaped your historical patterns- while establishing healthy coping practices and curating a goal directed path forward that honors who you are, your core values, measurable improvements in overall well-being and therapeutic process towards holistic healing.

What you can expect from our first session:

During our first session we will begin our process of getting to know each other and allowing space for your clarification and/or questions you may have. We will also discuss past current presenting issues/concerns and identify skills you would like to acquire and goals you would like to accomplish throughout your therapeutic journey.

My belief has always been that you are the expert of you and your life. The therapeutic process can further ignite more intention, insight, intuition, use of effective coping strategies; and self-awareness to assist you in identifying limiting beliefs, pain points unhealthy patterns that interfere with your steps to healing. It is always an honor to support and collaborate with you. I am deeply passionate about the importance of of this work and the clients I serve. I am dedicated to empowering you towards a path to purpose , resiliency, self-discovery and holistic wellness.
